The Challenges

• B2B operations on a TMS called CargoWise One, which is a very complex system for EDI integration
• SPS Commerce was unable to deliver for 5 months on EDI (850) interface
• Limited timeline but multiple interfaces like 856, 315, 214, etc.

THE SOLUTION

01.Discovery & Analysis

• Documented all existing AS-IS architecture, artifacts, CargoWise EDI module
• Analyzed trading partners — profiles, transaction types (850, 856, 315, 214)
• Analyzed existing workflows in CW1 and other EDI requirements

02.Solution Design

• Designed and planned TO-BE architecture on the Azure ecosystem
• Agreed to implement EDI transformation pipelines using Azure Logic Apps, XSLT/Liquid templates, and Azure Blob Storage for file staging
• Designed Azure functions

03.Development & Testing

• Built Python-based Azure functions
• Developed 850 inbound map, outbound 856, 315, 214 maps
• Created Logic Apps for inbound flows and outbound flows

04.CutOver & Go Live

• Successfully deployed the EDI integration interfaces to the production environment

05.Hypercare & Production Support

• Monitored Azure Logic Apps workflows and EDI file throughput
• Monitored SFTP transmission for all active trading partners
• Resolved production issues including ASN new requirement changes for the HEK branch
• Performed root cause analysis on failed transactions and re-processed shipments
• Optimized workflows and transitioned to steady-state support
