PAN OCEANIC - USA

THE CHALLENGES

The legacy AS2 Linux server stopped working, and their team was unable to resolve the issue. Key challenges included:

  • Lots of escalations from their EDI trading partners like Walmart, Target, Costco, etc. as EDI incoming and outgoing flow stopped working
  • Migrations of AS2 servers, SFTP, VAN and B2B – EDI interfaces required
  • Limited timeline for resolution
  • Need to migrate to Mendelson AS2 platform

THE SOLUTION

1. Discovery & Analysis

We began by assessing PAN OCEANIC's existing AS-IS and B2B EDI architecture, including interfaces, artifacts, mappings, and trading-partner integrations.

  • Documented the existing AS-IS architecture, artifacts, maps, and B2B EDI interfaces
  • Analyzed 40+ trading partners, including their profiles, maps, and transaction types
  • Identified existing integration requirements, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement

2. Solution Design

Based on the discovery and analysis, we designed a scalable TO-BE integration architecture aligned with PAN OCEANIC's business and EDI requirements.

  • Designed and planned the TO-BE architecture
  • Defined the implementation approach for the Azure-based integration ecosystem
  • Established the solution design for supporting trading-partner connectivity and EDI processing

3. Development & Testing

The designed solution was implemented and validated to support reliable EDI communication and trading-partner migration.

  • Installed and configured Windows AS2 servers on Azure VMs
  • Migrated AS2 trading partners to the new environment
  • Developed inbound and outbound EDI interfaces for 40+ trading partners
  • Performed comprehensive Unit Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

4. CutOver & Go Live

To ensure a smooth transition, we agreed on a detailed cutover plan for trading partners using SFTP and VAN connections. Once the plan was finalized, the solution was successfully moved into live production, marking the official go-live milestone.

5. Hypercare & Production Support

Following deployment, we entered the hypercare phase to closely monitor and stabilize operations.

  • Azure Logic Apps workflows were continuously monitored to validate performance
  • AS2 and ECGrid VAN transactions were tracked to ensure reliable message delivery
  • Production issues were promptly resolved, with root cause analysis performed to prevent recurrence
  • Workflows were optimized and transitioned into steady-state support, ensuring long-term stability and efficiency
